What is 
?
SMARTER is an acronym for ‘A Structured and Multisensory AppRoach To Enhance Reading’. It uses the principles of Orton-Gillingham method of teaching phonics in a systematic and step-wise manner.
SMARTER*phonics builds the brain for literacy by employing current reading science research of the importance of listening, phonological awareness, vocabulary. Its cumulative and repetitive structure and use of multi-sensorial activities have been shown in various projects to enhance both reading and writing.
SMARTER*phonics is currently used in all preschools in Sarawak.
